If you are considering purchasing an LED light for your vehicle, be sure to review the LED light bar laws in Saskatchewan or in your respective province/territory. Improper mounting of LED lights can result in fines and pose a safety risk to other drivers on the road.

The bulk of the details regarding auxiliary lights and fog lights are found in Part 16, Division 5 of The Traffic Safety Act of Saskatchewan and Part 3 of The Vehicle Equipment Regulations. Some of the key excerpts relating to auxiliary and fog lighting are summarized below. Auxiliary and Fog Light Summary

• Auxiliary and fog lights must be SAE certified and securely mounted for use on public roads
• Auxiliary and fog lights must be
  • Focused at least as low and at least as far to the right as the low beam of the headlamp; or
  • Connected so that they are switched off when the low beam is selected
• Auxiliary lamps must not be mounted higher than the headlamps, except where front mounted equipment makes that impracticable

Prohibited Lights

Except where otherwise permitted or required in these regulations or permitted by the administrator, no vehicle driven on a highway shall be equipped with:

(a) a lamp that emits a white light facing to the rear;

(b) a lamp that emits a red light facing to the front;

(c) a lamp that emits a blue or green light;

(d) a white or blue flashing lamp; or

(e) any additional lamp or equipment that impairs the effectiveness of the

lamps required by these regulations
